I can't get my Thinkpad 600 booting from the CD drive, my old HDD died and have just purchased a new larger HDD and need to install windows 98 or even XP but it keeps giving me an error message which on IBM site says no boot device found :(

Anyone got any idea's I'm flicking through webpages here and there but most results are for slightly different models :(

I don't have that laptop but if you can't find how to change the boot order and need a workaround you could probably try connecting the laptop hard drive to a desktop PC (either an enclosure or a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter) and starting off the install process then transplanting it after most of the inital stage has been completed (i.e. at the point of the first reboot). :)

I know on some of the Stinkpads I've seen you have to jit the blue 'Access IBM' button to change the boot order.

Not sure if your machine has one of those but you could try that.

I've gone right into the settings by hitting F1 whilst its starting up but there isn't the usual change boot order like when I've done it for my desktop :( I'm still trawling through some info seeing how I get to the boot order.
