Thinkware tell me only their SD cards will work, that surely can't be right, has anyone tried a non Thinkware card in their dashcam?
Andi.

Thanks guys just ordered a Sandisk Ultra. The device is already asking me to reformat for best performance, three times whenever I start the car!
I Googled the number on the ThinkWare card and it came back with the Sandisk Ultra.
Does anyone know if there are voice updates, I really don't like the voice on the device.
Andi.

Not sure about the voice but regarding format issues, in the link i ve posted some managed to fixed the issue by formatting in device quite few times.

correct
they have it in such away that others will not work (or at least they will but only for a short time)
tried SankDisk and Lexar in mine, worked for a little while then stopped working

Thinkware memory card on the other hand has been faultless

loads of people have had issues with memory cards that are not thinkware
my Lexar stopped working althogether

Interesting as the part number on the Thinkware card when googled comes up this a Sandisk part. Bought a Sandisk disk and went straight in and worked. We'll see how long it lasts.

Hi,

I've just downloaded and installed the firmware update to the supplied Thinkware sd card. I've not popped it into the dashcam yet but it's a good job I didn't as apparently this can brick the device! Crazy. Do you think if I erase the card completely then just pop it back into device to format it will rebuild the card directory to default?

I'm going to order the transcend 400x as that seems to have good reviews.

Are any of you using a third party card that you have updated the firmware and speed camera data successfully?

The fixed speed camera update can be installed on its own, the suggestion is to not upgrade the firmware unless you are having problems.

As long as you follow the instructions on how to install the firmware, you wont have any problems, ive done it twice so far, no problems

as for speed cameras, you do that on its own after you do the firmware
