I've got a 9800 GX2 sitting in the first PCI Express slot of an Intel D975XBX2 motherboard, which supports 2 monitors when running in multi-display mode. I'd like to run a third monitor. I have an 8600 GT, which also has the ability to run two monitors.
Can I add the 8600GT and use it to run two monitors, leaving the 9800GX2 to focus on one monitor (perhaps running in multi-GPU mode).
At the moment when I try put the 8600GT in the second slot the PC fails to boot at all. I wonder if there is a BIOS setting I need to get right.
If I can get it to boot I'm wondering if the use of two drivers will be reconciled correctly.
Any advice would be warmly welcomed.
