THIRD MSI Z77-GD65 faulty.

First board wouldn't post. RMA'd
Second board ethernet would not power. RMA'd
Ethernet controller doesn't work. How is this possible? How could it work then stop working after being put into my case.

to get three bad boards in a row is very perplexing, are you sure that all your other components are working 100%?

are you sure it isnt shorting inside the case?

is your psu good? could very easily see a poor/faulty psu blowing high powered components

I'm afraid I prematurely shot my wad on this one,

Looks like it's shorting inside the case.

Just took the mobo back out of the case onto cardboard again and the ethernet controller is back to working.

How would I go about figuring out where it's shorting?

As stupid as it sounds make sure all your mobo screw risers are where they should be as i had a friend kept having problems and couldn't figure it out till we took it apart and he had screwed one in where it shouldn't have been. Other then that if nothing else cover everything except your risers with brown cardboard if the problem still exists then it is a header causing it and if it is gone well either leave the cardboard in or try and figure it out.

Bloody hell. I'm 25 years old, I've been building PCs since I was 12. I've never felt as dumb as I do now.

2 extra risers screwed in. I'm an idiot.
