Third party DNS info?

Not that I've seen, but I can highly recommend the OpenNic project. They're democratic, decentralised, and free of any censorship, government interference, tracking/profiling (Google DNS) or hijacking (OpenDNS). The UK servers seem plenty fast to me (160/12).
 
There isn't a lot to review. Google and OpenDNS are two of the biggest providers.

You can use this tool to benchmark DNS servers. Reliability has always been the biggest issue with ISP DNS servers, not speed.
