Have a iphone 6 still in warranty but the screen smashed a few months ago and went with a third party screen replacement, now the phone does not switch on. Has anyone managed to get there phone replaced/repaired under apple care with 3rd party repair?

Repair by a non Apple Authorised repair agent invalidates your AC+ policy.
By the book you should be made to pay the full OOW fee however many stores managers authorise swap at the cost of the display (thus “replacing” the component which voids the AC+ agreement )

Is it Apple Care Plus? Not sure how a 6 would still be under warranty otherwise? In which case, why didn't you get Apple to replace the screen?

Standard apple care, purchased the phone last June on a cheap contract, screen broken a few months later and got it repaired for £50, apposed to Apple charging £130.

They were still selling the iPhone 6 until the 10 came out. In thoery could still have another year on it. They normally have 4 phones on the go, it would have been the SE, 6, 6S and 7. They are still selling the SE and 6S brand new.

The new fault may not be with the screen. But I doubt you will get anywhere due to the 3rd party repair, it’s too easy to blame the new fault on the non genuine part or damage as a result of the drop.

Bend over and wallet out time I am afraid.

If you did it yourself you could have purchased a screen for around £25.

iPhone 6 was prone to something called LSD which stands for ‘Long Screw Damage’. Use the wrong screw in the wrong hole and it won’t ever turn on again as it’s ‘Logic Board Damage’.

Did it work before you got this done?

Was done by a shop, had a friend look at it today and its the charging circuit on the board and also the battery, nothing to do with the replacement screen which was done about 6 months ago.

Refurbished iPhone 6 can be had for £99, so I wouldn't waste your time or money going for an Apple approved repair, they'll just rip you off for no reason.

Unfortunately this won't help the OP now. But people should be aware of what Apple disables if you replace an iphone or macbook screen with a non-Apple branded part (iphone 6 up to X):

This isn't applicable anymore and devices were un-bricked in a subsequent update.

That's good to know. Do you have any details on it as that video was only posted in April? Does this apply to the fingerprint reader and camera being disabled too?

Google knows everything ;)

Released 14 days after that video was published.

The one downside of YouTube is that creators have huge influence and create lots of attention on issues that should never have happened BUT they rarely go back and update their video's for things like this when they are fixed. The criticism was absolutely valid but its also sloppy to not update the description/title after the fact. This is especially pertinent as the explanation was that it is a bug and not intentional.
