AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 955 Black Edition 3.2GHz (Socket AM3) - OEM

OCZ Platinum 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C7 1333MHz Dual Channel

Asus M4A785TD-M Evo AMD 785G (Socket AM3) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard

This a good setup? Or would an Intel setup give me more speed? I don't want to overclock so just want a CPU / Ram that is fast to start with. Onboard graphics is fine for now.

I do game a bit. Budget is around the cost of the above.

Well a i5 is the only thing within that budget and that does not have onboard graphics so the Phenom II will be fine.

Also do you have a cpu cooler as the CPU is OEM so it won't come with one.

I would recommend to not go with the OEM as there is only 1yr warranty and you need a cooler..

Very much doubt i would have it for more than a year plus i do have a good cooler to use.

So guys, is there a better combination out there for the same price? Does the CPU listed above have a low power or is it one of the high w ones?

Edit: it is an 125w CPU! Yikes. Wanted a lower one than that!
