Gonna be making the switch to i7 in the next few weeks and have come up with the following spec.

i7build.jpg

Does all of this look good, and any suggestions on wether anything should be changed, ill be using a TRUE black for cooling with 2 400-1200 rpm fans in push/pull.

Because sometimes new toys are good :)

Spec is solid setter. You need a new bracket for the TRUE, they've changed the hole spacing to make up for the LGA1366 being larger than the 775.

The competitor for the board is the Gigabyte UD5. I'd have probably gone with Asus again myself, but their rma process can be rather hit and miss. Gigabyte owning a centre in the UK convinced me to change, but I miss the Asus bios.

The ram is very good. especially at the price. I'm using more expensive corsair CL8 at the same speed for no very good reason.

edit: might be an issue with the deluxe and throttling, will get back to you on that. Take a read through this fairly boring link, looks like Asus have sorted the problem out now.

Yep i can get the bracket from a mate as he has a spare one, i too am particularly fond of asus boards and there bios's, also love the ocz reaper ram as ive used both pc6400 and pc8500 reapers in my current rig. Cheers for the link, im gonna have a good read through it.

I understand what you mean Xez,:) but i may still be holding onto my current parts as well and using them as a replacement for an old athlon 64 939 rig that i have as a second rig, its really starting to struggle theese days:o
