Yeah I had Raclette with potatoes years ago when I was in Saas Fee. Looks like you've got some pickled onions there?

It depends where you eat, if you go in a very touristic restaurant the cheese is not always good, in the right store you have to buy the cheese ( here also available in the supermarket ) and then you cook it yourself. For a better taste of the cheese ( at least the first time ) without onions or other vegtables ). The taste of the cheese must be SWEET, otherwise the cheese is not the best.

You make confusion with fondue, but raclette is only with potatoes and fondue ( another kind of cheese ) is with bread. but if you try the both, very different dishes although is always cheese.

just raclette or do you have the stone aswell for some meats? i have it all the time when i go skiing along with cheese/meat fondue.

Cheese melting table thing..

Impressed, they are very nice.
What's their origin? South African/American, auntie had one, hence the guess. Although saying that, it sounds French.

Yup French!

Cheese heavy over there! I like a nice tartiflette!
