I had an issue when correcting words, it would insert the word within the word I was already typing, rather than replace the incorrect word with the correct one. The Y trick seems to have worked.

The Y trick disables the rich text and other features though, so not much of a workaround.

I use SwiftKey just fine, I'm not using it now but the last time I had issues with the autocorrect messing about I used the beta app for a while. Eventually the fix got rolled out in to the main release and I switched back. Maybe give the beta a look.

I've installed SwiftKey and will give that a try.
