I was just thinking when we're all old and retired (75 retiring age probably) and OAPS. Do you think we will, instead of sitting around moaning about nothing, be sitting on our computers and playing MMOs because we have nothing else to do in our spare time?

What do you think?

that's why I said MMO's in particular.

One of my friends grandmothers plays that MMO called Runescape and apparently she's insanely high leveled.

Aye, I remember playing runescape when I was like 9. Seems to still be pretty famous, haven't checked back on it though, always thought that it was just a little kiddies mmo but with the amount of people that play it, it must be alright...

You know how us old farts get together and talk fondly of Spectrums, Atari's and C64's? That mix of fond memories and admitting that their performance and graphics were appalling. Our kids will be saying that about i7 PC's in twenty years time - scary!

I plan that when I get older, the only changes will be that my CPU gets more powerful, my GPU faster and my Windows font larger.

75 is a long way off for most of us, if you look at what gaming is like today compared to say 40 years ago it is pretty hard to comprehend what options will be available to us.

I think a good way to look at it is, are OAPs today still doing indoor leisure activities they did when they were younger, e.g. watching TV, listening to the Radio, reading books etc. the answer is yes, so if computer games as we known them are still around when I'm an OAP, chances are I'll be playing them (physical condition permitting).

Gaming at 75? Yeah! and well beyond with any luck. Can't imagine myself being an accepting of old age type of oldy.I'll still be upgrading my PC for Crysis 35 instead of going on coach trips with all the other wrinkle faced fogeys.

I can imagine a lot on here will get into watercooling and overclocking their pacemakers!:D

lol @ OAP servers :p

Yeah, if I make it that far and am in reasonable health, I'll mostly, if not exclusively, play games that allow me to go at my own pace. Can imagine myself being 60+ and still playing Fallout 1 & 2, Deus Ex, etc :)

by the time we are 75 viagra won't be a pill anymore but more like clicking on an email attachment.

driving a ferrari should feel no different than the real thing.....driving about in the sims and pulling chicks looking like jessica alba who will have had their full bodies scanned* for a fee, yes more real life hotties means more dlc so that will still be around, im expecting full hollodeck stuff here btw and then blowing their brains out after we are done with them.

going on holiday will be a virtual thing....they will have every bit of detail so accurate even the grass will smell like grass and the fruit will taste like fruit from that part of the world. yes go on holiday with your friends in a virtual world that looks, feels and tastes no different to if you were really there.....apart from you can't get mugged and killed or die in a car crash.....you may still be raped though *for a fee.

Disclaimer....i cannot be held responsible if it doesn't happen in your life time or you don't get raped.

If I can still see, my hands aren't riddled with arthritis from using keyboard and mouse + my job - then yes I will most definately play MMO's still. Particulary if they invent a groinal attatchment for extended pleasure when you level up.
