I been messing around with mem timings trying to get my Geil Ultra Pc6400 running at 4-4-4-12 and I managed it. Me E6300 was running at 400x7 with me 8800GTS at stock.
I was scoring 8600+ on 3DMark06.
Great I thought! Tomorrow I'll start Oc'ing the graphics card.
I then went off and played a couple of games of cz to pass the time.
Get's in from work and boots the Pc. I brought an akasa exhaust fan to stick under the graphics card to help with cooling during oc, so I installed that and booted.
before I started I ran 3dmark06 .... I scored 7607!!!!
Almost 1000K less than the day before?
So off I went troubleshooting. Trust me when I tell you I tried eveything, reset everything in the BIOS I could think off. But nope I couldnt break the 8000 mark on 3dmark06??
2 and half hours later and I think, sod it I'll play cz for a while.
Drops into NVIDIA GPU settings and there in the settings:
Override AF run 16AF and override AA with 16Q AA!!!!!
What a pratt I felt. I always set those setting when playing cz but forget to unset before switching off the day before!
Switched them both back to application controlled and hey presto: 8679 score!!!
I might oc the graphics card this tomorrow. had enough of it toniight.
