THIS. IS. AWESOME

Yeah but there is browsing the web and there is browsing the web.

Just to give you an idea of a few things you are missing out on:

1. Speed - pages load faster (ok not sp much IE9 but certinaly earlier versions).
2. More extensions. Honestly I can't live without Adblock and Lastpass now :p
3. Built in PDF reader. Chrome now has many plugins and PDF reading capabilities built in - no more downloading adobe reader or flash.
4. It syncs almost everything. Never have to worry about backed up bookmarks or settings. When you format or get new PC you just install chrome, sign in and BOOM it looks exactly the way you left it before your hard drive died or whatever :D

BTW I don't mean to be a preachy nob. It's just that when I first got Firefox/Chrome I couldn't believe I'd been using IE for so long. Makes browsing waaaay better.

Woohoo, done, thanks! :D Is there a quick way of importing my favourites toobar into Firefox? I have about 50 on my IE toobar (all icons).

This i do not know...But welcome to the world of real browsers. Chrome is a good one to try and just as easy to import items into.

Try been at my work though, the entire infrastructure we support are 99% still on IE6! Its no end of problems!!!

Nice way to cram more porn into my screen in one go. I like it.

I remember my mother popping around for a visit and i had to show her some work id done, popped open Chrome and every single 'recently visited' tab was just some form of 'adult' site, she just looked at me, laughed and just said 'times hard since the split then' ha! Busted!

and now my other favourite thing about Chrome - chrome.angrybirds.com
Finally a game not filtered at work!

Don't worry you don't come across as one at all.

So, Firefox or Chrome, which one?!

I understand, but not every user is like you, has your needs or your knowledge. Some people just want to browse the internet.

which is why we hate IE and not the user, and only make flippant jokes at other users who say they use IE :p

I've not used FF for ages so I'm a little biased, but I'd sum it up as:

Chrome: Fast and easier to use/get to grips with the features.

Firefox: More extensions and better for customisation and hardcore tweaking of the browser.

Most of the people that choose Firefox over Chrome do it because there is a specific extension that won't on Chrome, like a scripting extension to change the way sites appear, or an FTP interface etc. As far as I know, Chrome doesn't allow you to tinker as much as Firefox. However, I've never needed such extensions, so I choose Chrome :)

PS I think you need a gmail account to back up all your settings/bookmarks/custom search engines etc in Chrome (tbc by someone maybe).

Either or, ive started to sway more towards Chrome myself but i like my add-ons on Firefox so i use both.

Chrome is nice and simple if not using add-ons. Looks pretty, responds quick give it a shot.

This sums it up much better than i just did.

you have one chance left before you would be sentenced to death in Reapers britain.

do you use IE9 because your too damned lazy to change to something else?

if yes, you are saved. if no then you would be sentenced to death

I use IE9 because its unlike the bloatware that is Firefox. Prefer the interface.

That's funny, because if I was king, I'd kill off elitist ****s! :P
Not being elitist. But wasting many, many countless hours, weeks and days of my life fixing IE rendering bugs has made me a jaded cynic when it comes to any MS browser. Longbow and DJ Jester were right on the money.

Glad it pushed you towards FF or Chrome though :)

FF has a lot of great extensions, the downside of this being it can get very bloated. Quite often I'll find over 1Gb of memory being used just by FF. Chrome is very lightweight and very fast, it just doesn't have as many worthwhile extensions.

Just taking a look at LastPass..doesn't Chrome do this already? :/ Saving and cloud syncing of passwords?

Yeh, it's just that Lastpass is a bit more customisable and I'd set it up ages ago when Chrome didn't have password syncing. The built in one will probably be fine for most situations.
