This is damn weird..

So sitting in bed working on my 13" pro, i notice the screen go dark by itself, wondering is somthing is up i love the screen about, it goes light again, just noticed now if i cover the built in camera with my hand, the screen goes darker, move it away and it returns to normal brightness....what the hell is that about?

K, just tried putting a light relly close to it,and of course the screen brightened, is this some kinda conteractive effects for the gloss or somthing?

It's an ambient light sensor. It darkens the screen if you're in a dark room to stop it hurting your eyes and to save battery

What a random thing to find out by mistake, for a few mintues was thinking..aww now...dont tell me I got the Friday afternoon job!.

You can turn it off in system preferences.

DOnt think ill be turning it off, quite handy now that I notice it TBH.....

Haha When I found out about this I was playing with my freinds mac for ages shinging a torch at the camera then covering it with my hand

It's great as your not blinded by the backlight when you're in a dark room!
