Small uk fim directed and written by shane meadows, hit the cinemas last week , heard about it as radio 1 have been bigging it up all week.
Well worth watching :)

Saw it while ago AHEM , I really enjoyed it. Very good film, even if the last 20-30 misn where sickening IMO but for me a good 4 out of 5 stars :)

I've heard some good reviews for it. Would you recommend it to someone, like myself, who isn't particularly interested in the subject matter?

Well I watched it on the understanding that it was about football, it isn't :p

Is it about England? nope not really.

Its about 80's life and how strange weird religion and racism (to the extreme) can make people behave , in short a very good film IMO

I felt like it was cut short, like the ending was actually only the middle. They could have extended the story more and added some more events into it, the way it ended i felt like there should have been more.

Did anybody watch the South Bank Special with the director of the film?
He's the same director who did Dead Mans Shoes.
It was an excellent documentary and he told where he got the young lad from and how much trouble he was.
The story is actually about the director growing up.

Superb and filmed just up the road from me in Uttoxeter.
Some of my mates are in it as extras.

Really? I appear to have missed the filming then!

May go and watch it just to see Uttoxeter in all its "glory"!

Interesting, some of it is definitely filmed in Nottingham also, as the Victoria Centre flats can be seen in the background in a few scenes. Good film, brutal in parts and paints a very honest picture of a particular culture, which still exists. Must see 'Dead Mans Shoes' and 'Once upon a Time in the Midlands', by the same director.

I'm still trying to dechiper the accent and figure out where this film is supposed to be set. It's obviously next to the ocean, but where?
