A weeks ago I got myself a B-Grade ASUS 27" Monitor , I like the monitor very much actually...but I've noticed that around the edges of the screen it seems lighter than the rest of the screen , is this ok or is something wrong or is it just a case of playing with a few settings ?

thanx :)

looks like backlight bleed. nothing you can fix by changing settings i'm afraid. Most monitors suffer from it to varying degrees really, and i suppose being a B-grade stock that might be part of the reason

I have a Dell 22" thats about 5 years old ...get no bleeding from that one lol.

When I got it , it was packed like I would expect from new , ie like it had never even been opened....it even still had those stickers you get around the edge of the monitor too....i also asked why it was being sold as a BGrade...but the guy on the phone said he didnt know!.....so either I could send it back " within 90 days " but thats gonna cost me more money , Or....put it down to experience.

Larger screens (and thinner screens) tend to suffer more from this sort of thing because they are more susceptible to being physically 'flexed' during and after manufacture. There is a fair bit of variation though - not all models of that unit will have that much, some probably have more. What brightness settings are you using, incidentally? Lower brightness will dampen the bleed. As Baddass said there's nothing you can do to eliminate it and nothing other than lowering brightness will reduce it.

Is it that 3D monitor? VG278H?

I have the same one and the same problem. I've got mine at 20 Brightness / 75 Contrast. It's helped a bit but it's still there. But i only notice it now in dark scenes in movies.
