This is OK ?

Better off with a 24 inch for 1080p really. Picture will not be very sharp at that res on a screen of that size. 27 inch should be 1440p really.

Noticed this is a very similar discussion to the other thread, so decided to give the exactly same response for this, too:

The size vs. resolution issue is quite an individual matter, really. For example, I'm using a 42" HDTV @1920x1080 from a 1m (~3ft) distance. And I still need to use zoom on most web pages.

Furhermore, 2560x1440 has almost twice as many pixels to calculate when compared to 1920x1080, which in turn takes a toll on your FPS count when playing games, so keep that in mind, too.

Just because there are nearly double the pixels, doesn't mean you need double the GPU power though as it doesn't scale in a linear fashion. I'd guess you need around 30-40% more grunt for 1440p over 1080p.

well ive just bought a 1920x1080p 27" monitor and should arrive tomorrow i will let u know what its like if u want?
i went for this:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-077-IY

considering ive used my 46" tv (1920x1080)down stairs for gaming before and sat close and didn't die from the hideous pixalation and so fourth you hear about on 27" monitors,im pretty sure it will be fine tbh(i think it looked okay)
i could have course end up eating those words tomorrow.......................

I know it doesn't go linearly, that's why I simply said it takes a toll on the FPS count. ;)

But nevertheless, the 30-40% difference is still approximately equal to needing a GTX770 instead of GTX660Ti, or GTX Titan instead of GTX770. So that's an added cost one should keep in mind when making purchases, unless willing to compromise on FPS count and/or eye-candy.

Also, @chris-82:
If you've already tried playing on a 46" @1920x1080, then 27" should by no means be too blocky or pixelated. On the contrary, you might even find it too small for the resolution. When I bought the 42", I feared it might be too big, as I was contemplating on a 32" model first. But after I got it setup on my table, I was glad I didn't go for a smaller one. :)
(though not saying everyone else should go for a HDTV as a monitor, as there are certain drawbacks one just needs to make a compromise with)

How is it?

How is it?

Wow your eager!! Lol I bought it the same day I posted as said I get it today:D:p
Will be arriving about 5ish so as soon as its setup I will let u know what I think I am in no way a monitor expert will put it side by side with my 21.5"
Acer and let u know how it compares I may even treat u to a photo!!! :D

hey
i purchased my monitor and didnt want to comment untill i had been using it for a few days.

well......
i will never be going back to below 27" again thats for sure!:D
whe i first set it up it looked enourmous compared to my 21.5" acer straight out of the box the colours are fantastic compared to the acer and the viewing angles are brilliant (tn panel) the touch screen buttons work very well.
when gaming it is so much more emersive my whole vision is now taken up by what im playing rather than looking and being able to see around the monitor it really does make a huge difference well to me anyway the movement is lovely and fluid(1ms response time) in game i really cannot see any difference in on screen graphics(blurry, fuzzyness, jagged edges.

there is only one downside and as people mentioned earlier the writing/text is slightly less sharp but seriously its so minimal its really not a issue to the point where i do not notice it whatsoever now and in all honesty for the gains of the 27" monitor gives u i wouldnt even let it concern u at all unless u are unbelievably anal and stare at your screen to pick faults.

i havent seen a 1440p screen but tbh the way people on here go on about u cant go past 24" before 1080p looks awful i honestly think u are either the most anal people in the world, justifying your 1440p purchase or never even seen a 27"1080p screen now personally i think this screen looks really nice and really not much different from my 21.5" monitor in quality of picture everyone has a opinion but it seems a shame people scare off other people from the 27" monitors with there talk of hideous 1080p at that size as its just plain wrong tbh it seems to me from looking around that 1440p's real advantage is on the desktop for real estate but as far as gaming goes doesnt seem to make much difference (again as i said i get this from reading about as i havent used 1440p).
but anyway im happy 27" 1080p gamer wahoooo

1440p does look a lot better in a few situations than 1080p at 27"

but if you dont have a 1440p display next to it, you wont notice. i had a 27" 1080p for ages. and imo is far far superior to smaller screens, even at the same res

Recently got a Samsung sa950 which is 1080p in a 27inch screen.. Plus 3d, but wont go into that here.

Had a 24" 1080p before and the change in size is brilliant, as someone said before it is more immersive, for myself. I use it for flight sims, particularly DCS, the arma series and the odd fps.

For gaming it is fantastic and I actually doubt I would notice that much of a difference in resolution while playing..
