This is stupid and uncalled for

If a similar incident happened to a Buddhist sanctuary, I doubt anyone would bat an eye (inside or outside). Also, I can walk into one without having to be Buddhist...

On the other hand, I'm sure whoever left the pig's head was intending to stir something up which of course is immature and irresponsible.
And you can walk into a Mosque without being a Muslim, I went on a school trip to one in middle school and im a Christian.

What part of the country was that? Also, a trip isnt what I was referring to.

Its not - they are both unacceptable.

When the "behead the cartoonists" protests were going on, we were continually told that we must try to understand the extremists a little better so we can avoid offending them in future and they won't want to behead us. Shouldn't we try to understand where these pig's head throwers are coming from as well? or should we just dismiss them as mindless bigots?

this is news? dear god..

if the media are gonna have trivial pieces of news they could atleast attempt to make them happy and positive.. like old granny saves kitten from drowning in local canal...

there'd be a lot less moaning on this board if they did thats for bloody sure.. ;)

Yes they shouldnt have got how they did over the cartoonist but does that justify someone throwing a pigs head at a mosque?

Wait a minute, you mentioned you were a Christian...

Even then, the local imams here in west London make some rather interesting statements about non-Muslims. While I agree with freedom of speech, it does seem hypocritical when they cant accept criticism in return.

Why the double standard in media reporting though?

I'm sure there are a number of burnt churches around the world who would have welcomed something unpleasant but essentially harmless being dumped on their doorsteps.

Those members of the congregation that are stll alive, that is.

Yup Im a Christian....

Im not saying they are right, im just saying stooping down to pig throwing level is never justified or right.

I'm not even saying the locals are representative of Muslims as a whole, but I have a feeling if they saw a pig's head outside a mosque here they'd go to war over it.

Do you think it would make the BBC headlines if it got dumped outside a Christian church?

Well obviously not, because its not offensive to Christians. It would just been seen as a bit weird. But if it were I see what you mean.

No they wouldnt!

Edit
And I say that as a member of a congregation who has seen 2 missionaries being killed in Pakistan for being christians and holding a church in their house!
