This is why you play Mass Effect!

I bought the mass effect trilogy...

played about 2 hours of the first game.

couldn't bve bothered with that over hyped POS

it's hardly SWKOTOR

You are judging 3 huge games based on a fraction of the first of the series?

I loved these games. Expect for the ending. I felt cheated.

From the ME3 Wiki. A group of people "raised $1,000 in under one hour to go toward the purchase of 402 cupcakes. The cupcakes were made with three different colors (red, green and blue) to correspond to the different endings, yet all had the same vanilla flavor. They were then sent to BioWare's main office."

It's insane how they thought it was okay to make a game that changes depending on the choices you make, only for everyone to end up at this same crappy ending. 3 choices. Same cut scenes, but in different colours. What a joke. I'd play through the game again if it wasn't for the ending.

Bioware were given a tight 2 year schedule by EA for 3 and sadly it seemed that they just ran out of time. It feels rushed, side quests were no where near as fleshed out as in the previous series plus the ending which was pretty poor by the standards of the trilogy.

ME1 should be thought of as a prologue. It was a good game, but suffered from a clunky control system. ME2 was one of, if not the best game of the last gen IMO.

I always find myself wondering what people loved so much about ME2... it completely lacked that EPIC feel from the original that had my jaw dropping constantly. Mass Effect 1 is one of my all time greats, really love it.

I have just received ME3 for Wii U, so I can finish the trilogy finally. Is that video in the OP for me if I don't know the ending...?

Original game doesn't stand up so well once you've played newer titles sadly, bit clunky and non-intuitive but you really do need to give it more than 2 hours before it really clicks.

Loved the first and second but the third just leaves me cold for some reason, every time I play it it just bores me to sleep. Would love to see the first 2 rolled together into one big game with a bit of a polish and tweaked to have a bit more cohesion to the various mechanics, etc.

ME1- so epic it hurt. The only thing to rival FF7 in terms of story.

ME2- brilliant sequel. Took out some of the more laborious features of one, but started to simplify the game a little too much. Still close to perfect.

ME3 - decent as a stand alone game, but not good enough to be part of the series. Plain old third person shooter by now. Good story with an utterly broken ending. So disappointing.

Did you get the Normandy. I found the first couple of hours very dull where you are wandering the citadel. Once you get the ship the game changes dramatically. In fact it went from being a struggle to play to becoming my fave game of all

The Mass Effect series had potential but:

1. Console port (controls and inventory of the first one were a joke).
2. Story was incoherent (they made things up as they went instead of having a complete structure from the start).
3. Devolved into an action shooter with each sequel.

Best games of the previous generation? Not by a long shot.

Similar to the Taris level in Knights of the Old Republic.

One thing I still remember about ME2 was the god awful planet scanning. Felt like a real chore after a couple of planets
