Hi and welcome
Overall yes, though a few possible tweaks could be
- if it's just for gaming save a bit of money and get a 2500k as its just as good
- you could maybe use this money to get the extreme4 gen3 mobo
- a modular psu such as the antec true power would be good

Um i was originally thinking of an i5 but I am going to use it for video editing and rendering at least two or three times a week so I decided for the i7. (As well as gaming)
Um I'm not much of a "techie" so what advantage would there be to having a modular psu over the one i picked?
Yes I have considered an SSD but obviously money is the limiting factor. Might be able to get a 60-ish gb one and put the OS on there. How much space would the OS take up on 64gb SSD? Just so I can get an idea of what other programs I could put on there.
Thanks for the help as well guys :)

I have a 60gb ocz agility 3 which is a great ssd. Dead cheap now!
I have window 7 professional and if you allow 20-25gb of that for windows with the main files from first install and other files that somehow always end up there after a few months then you'll be left with 30 ish for your most used programs.
The main ones on mine are, iTunes, Steam and photoshop. Then i have 200gb partion of a 500gb drive allocated to other programs and steam games. This is massively useful as you can restore your system without worrying about the hassle of reinstalling all your programs and losing program config and data :D

I am in the process of building a PC and would like to know how you do that.

Is it literally just make a partition and install all your programs in there? How come that doesn't get affected by a system restore? And if you DO want to restore that section is it still possible?

Thanks :)

Because windows is separate, on the SSD so if you do a system restore it only effects that drive, not the other(s) with everything else
You would need to set up back ups rather than being able to do the restore which is a windows feature really

Thanks for explaining it :D

Makes sense now :D

um just been looking around for different possibilities for gfx cards. i could get 2x gtx560ti's for the same money as the gtx 580. Which one should i go for because i've seen reviews that 2 560ti's in sli has a better performance that the 580 alone. but i've also heard that some games have trouble with sli rigs. What do you guys think?

580, will consistently perform over all games whereas SLI/Crossfire differs from game to game.
