How come they don't design a 2 12cm fan radiator cooling system on a console? Surely better and quieter than slimline consoles with little buzzy fans.

Tempted to get PS3, loved Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid and Gran Turismo on the PS1.

Those are the games that are attracting me, My girlfriend also wants a PS3 because of Home and Little Big Planet. So i'm all set. I'm going to beable to spend an obscene amount of money again and buy a PS3. Without raised eye brows from the girlfriend :p

The PS3 has a very large central fan system, which works far better than a dual 120mm fan design.

It's to do with Mr Men being a prize ****, and denying what he did despite me and the mods have IP address evidence

Ah okay. I think I can guess what it's all about just from that :p

As for the 360 Media player, I've not noticed any problems with it. Pre Divx update obviously there were some.(mainly no divx:p)

Pad control in the media centre is quite nice, and saves me buying a remote.

I've not seen much on PS3 via the media centre to be honest, Just bluray movies, don't supposed its much different for streaming avi's and what not? Seemed alright to me though.

If aesthetics are your thing ps3 wins hands down

But as said in the first couple of posts, work out which exclusives you want to play the most and buy accordingly

If your a hardcore racing fan i would personally go for the ps3 simply because you have more options on the steering wheels and controllers and Gran Turismo (if prologue is anything to go by, its far more realistic than Forza and PGR)

PS3:
Resistance
Metal Gear Solid 4
Devil May Cry 4
Tekken 6
Virtua Fighter 5
Heavenly Sword
Motorstorm
White Knight Story
SOCOM PS3 (coming to pc?)
Warhawk
Lair
Ferrarri F1
Ratchet and Clank
8 Days
Final Fantasy XIII (next year)
Gran Turismo Prologue
Little big planet

Xbox:
Gears of War
Dead Rising
Saints Row
Halo 3 (if you play online, otherwise an average single player campaign)
Mass Effect (maybe on PC)
Forza 2
Bioshock (also on PC)
Lost Planet (also on pc?)
Alan Wake (also on PC)
Blue Dragon
Lost Odyssey
Crackdown
Huxley (also on PC)
Too Human
Project Sylpheed
Banjo Kazooie 3
Eternal Sonata
Infinite Undiscovery
Splinter Cell 5
Project Gotham Racing 4
Kane And Lynch

Probably missed loads but the main ones for me anyway

If anyone lists perfect dark zero they should be shot, it is a VERY VERY bad game
I had a friend who is a perfect dark fanboi and even he got bored

What an idiotic comment.

nah its true

infact its the main reason i wont get another one

have no console and at the moment getting a ps2 or wii is looking most appealing to me :/

you seem the most blatant 360 fan in this thread by the way , everytime someone gives an opinion you just jump down there neck

Well imo the reasons to get a PS3 above a 360 are:

Free multiplayer
Gran Turismo
Better reliability

Free mp alone would be a good reason for me.
But the breaking down and the price of all the extra's is also important, the 360 isn't cheap at all when you want the normall bits n bobs with it.

So for £200 more you get a BR player and wireless.

While I still think the 360 is the better console they are nowhere near that far apart, about £40 difference (Premium vs 40gb).

Xbox360 Arcade.

£100 more, not £200.

the 360 isn't cheap at all when you want the normall bits n bobs with it.

Normal bits? I haven't had to buy a thing for mine... just get a long network cable for £2 and use rechargeable batteries. Online gameplay is the only thing you have to pay for if you want it.

If you were to strech you could get a X360 arcade and a Wii for a similar price to a PS3.

360+Wii is what i have atm and there is nothing attracting me to the PS3 what so ever atm. GT5 looks nice but ive clocked up over 200 hours online on forza 2 and the physics look kinda shaky to me so im gonna just sit on the fence and get a PS3 when GT5 comes out (Unless Forza 3 is on the horizon). Nothing else interests me on the PS3 and in general multiplatform games turn out better on the 360. Especially when it comes to downloadable content. Plus i have plenty of gaming on my Wii to so there has to be something really special to come out to make me part cash with a PS3 for one game.

Im at a stale mate. i dont know wether to get a PS3 or an XBOX 360.

Its annoying, because its almost a 50/50 split between my friends on what to get, so i dont want a flame war. Ill tell you the situation, and you can give me pro's and cons. hopefully anyway, and if it turns into a flame war or any bickering comes into it could a don kindly delete.

Situation: Getting new TV tommorow + (insert console here).

TV will be within -cable- distance of my PC so i will be able to watch blueray/hd movies through my pc - thus negating the HD/DVD / Blu Ray debate.

Im a racer, so like racing games. Forza 2, Project Gotham, GT etc. But also want to play some good rpg's and fifa/pro evo. Mass effect looks damn good.

So to put it bluntly, at the moment the xbox is winning. Can anyone give me any reason to get a ps3 over an xbox ? In a nice non-flame way? lol thanks.

Simple. Get a 360 tomorrow and you'll be playing Forza 2, Mass Effect, PGR4 and Blue Dragon tomorrow.

If you get a PS3 you'll have the hassle of importing Prologue and a controller with rumble. Then for rgp your choice is Oblivion or a poor port of Enchanted Arms and that's your lot.

The guy wants stuff to play tomorrow not 2009.

Devil May Cry 4 and Virtual Fighter 5 are not PS3 exclusives, both are going on the 360.

For me the PS3 price arguement is not as valid as when it was first launched, it has dropped in price and is a fairer comparison now.

I still dont understand why people get so uptight about paying for Xbox Live though, the Silver account basically allows access to all the downloadable content just restricts the actual playing online - the cost of that? £40... hardly breaking the bank - and in my experience the PS3 online side of things is absoloutely shocking, it is just slow and messy imo. Infact the whole GUI for the PS3 frustrates me, but again my opinion.

Currently the console to go for in my head is the 360, great number of owners for online gaming, great collection of games, excellent GUI/OS, Achievements are a brilliant addition. The PS3 at the moment cant compete with barely no games, the only ones i want are Drakes Fortune and Ninja Gaiden Sigma (love the game) - other then that they are poo, Resistance was one of the worst games i have ever played, and Heavenly Sword was good but way to short, can easily be done in a few hours. This wont last of course the PS3 does have some great looking games on the way... they just are not here yet.

I think you should go for the 360 - because it gives you the best all round console, but in the months to come when the PS3 games start piling up the price would have also (i would think) gone down again a bit and you can pick one up cheaper then anyway. So 360 Now = gaming goodness, PS3 now = good console, couple of games...

The one thing the 360 wins hands down on though is the controller... omg its pure bliss compared to the PS3 one!

Wing me an email if you want to know more.

Done, Cheers :D

And the thing about the £40 for xbox live, It Should be added to the price of the console for a lot of people, It may only be £40 a year, but it's still on top of what you are paying. Doesn't matter how much it is, It's money out of your wallet to fully enjoy the console you've already paid for.

I'm not saying its not worth it, And i'm not saying it's not affordable, Just that it's still another cost, Like the play and charge kit. Added HDDVD and Wireless. All optional extras ofcourse. Some people can buy the arcade and be happy with what it offers. :)

Play and Charge kits are not forced either though, i didnt have one for the first year, just used batteries (pound shop w00t) and i had a wired controller.

Why is the PS3 better. You state this but don't give a reason.

Genuine question as it is sometimes useful to actually explain these things as some of the reasons given may be in line with what the op is looking for.

I dont need to.

I was merely doing what most others do.

But for the sake of argument:
Its a better console and always has been.
The 360 is poorly built, unreliable and noisy. It peripherals are expensive for what they are, it has a large selection of games, but a large proportion of them are utter dross.
Out of the THREE replacement consoles i've had all three skip and jump during DVD playback, randomly crash playing games, give up "disc cannot be read" errors and sound like they are going to eat the discs.
A lot of games (the guitar heroes, PGR4, GRAW to name but a few) suffer terrible slow down as well, which is something that gets hurled at the PS3 but never mentioned on the 360.

The PS3 on the other hand is virtually silent compared to the 360, has Wireless, harddrive, bluray and blue tooth out the box, plays DVD's and the vast majority of Blu ray movies from around the world flawlessly, its games library is growing day by day and apart from a handfull of particularly lazy ports perform just as well as the 360 versions.

Those are the facts.

£280 PS3, Blu-Ray drive.
£190 for Xbox Arcade + £109.99 for HD-DVD drive

Xbox + Drive is £20 more than PS3. So please tell what why I'm lacking common sense- unless the Arcade drive is HD-DVD so you don't need the £110 drive?

Normally dont bother with these threads but what the hell are people arguing about Blu-ray HD add ons when it has nothing to do with the OP.

He stated in his original post that those features where of no interest to him. The point of this thread was to debate whats best for the OP not yourself.

To the OP, if you dont require those features at all or in the future then there really isn't a need to go Ps3 in my opinion. The games you have listed are all 360 games so why bother spending the extra?
