I don't deny some 360 consoles are very noisy and on average it's the noisiest console I've come across but that doesn't change how idiotic the statement was.
I don't know. It was exaggerated, I agree, but I just took it as a figure of speech.

As for saying the psn is "shoddy", that is complete crap
Does it have less features? Yes
But that doesnt equal a bad service, it is designed to play games and thats exactly what it does and does it well.
I have yet to see a game where the pings are unplayable, on the sony dedicated servers they are far better than XBL
I dont use the friends lists and such on xbox personally (thats what msn messenger is for
) so cant comment, until Halo 3 which has no lobby (rofl) so was forced to add people just to play gamesIf you use these features then you probably might want to get XBL over PSN, but hardly a selling point for a games console
Either way i sold my ps3 over xmas to the people who were going crazy on the bay along with my wii, i will probably buy one again when MGS4 comes out

for me the choice was easy (I game online and watch films)
PS3 + game + bluray
or
360+ wireless adapter+XBL suscription+HDDVD drive+HDDVD
For me the ps3 was cheaper so thats the only reason I chose it

My thoughts too.
If I'm going to buy 360 and because of router sitting in my study room, I have to add the cost of wifi adapter for living room.
To me, £60 for wifi adopter is cheeky especially when you consider the REST of consoles (PSP, £99 DS lite, Wii & PS3) all have inbuilt wifi!
Drop in £40 subscription, it is actually more expensive than much better equipped 40GB PS3 and PS3 has blu-ray drive as a bonus! I don't care about how much better xbox live is because playing online is all what mattered!

And for the record my brothers elite is horrific and i can noticably hear it with the 5.1 turned up. For what is really a refresh and upgraded model, im pretty disappointed that nothing has been done about the noise. Granted is has some good games and LIVE is great, but the noise is just unacceptable.

The noise varies, also the PS3 can be just as loud when the fan kicks up to full speed

Lol maybe get your hearing checked out or the PS3 fan you have heard is screwed. I regard my console as one of the louder ones that doesn't ramp down during blu-ray/dvd playback, but it is whisper quiet compared to a 360. If you don't believe me then buy a cheapy sound meter and do some tests.
