I posted a thread the other day about the quarrels I was facing when deciding whether to get back into PC gaming or stick with the Mac and use the Xbox for gaming, so I thought, I want more desk space and so on, but since I've switched back to the PC primarily and used the Mac for things such as Flash editing, browsing etc, it's been running incredibly slow, i've moved it from ontop my desk to on top of my tower machine and it's going really slow, I don't know what's going on with it?

I thought it was a ventilation issue, but nope, that's not it, the vents are open and fine, nothing wrong there, other than that? what could it be? I know they get hot, mainly cause they're so small and form factor, but that surely couldn't reduce my mac to a snails pace, I turned it off and did my daily routine on my PC it was running that slow, any ideas?

It's go 6GB DDR3 ram, 2.4GHZ processor, so it's not as if it's majorly slow spec wise.

It feels betrayed that you've dumped it for a PC. :(

Ok ok on a serious note, could it be some kind of interference from the PC if you're standing it on top of it? Have you tried using it in another room or away from the PC?

I left it off for like a good day or so, turned it back on, left the PC off and it seems fine thus far!

perhaps if you had a roof vent on the pc, all that hot air was heating the mac and the system was down-clocking the cpu so it wouldnt overheat

The two possibilities are that this is either in your head or the situations are completely unrelated.

There is no way placing your mac on top of your pc would have such a noticeable impact, even if the pc was blowing all its hot air directly into the mac there wouldn't be a massive performance drop.

I know, I'm not sure what's going on what so ever, maybe i'm just over using the power of the actual mac.

I mean at the moment, it's strange, Minecraft is being laggy and jumpy with me, things i've got open is:

Flash CS5
Adium
Firefox & Thunderbird.
Steam.

I ran minecraft and as i said, it's lagging and jumping.

So I thought okay, okay, So i ran Garrys mod on steam and nothing, it ran fine, very smoothly, it was running at 65-70fps constantly, no dips, no drops.

I checked activity monitor and when on Minecraft I had like 3GB ram free/being unused and 60% of my cpu being un-used or 'idle', so i'm a total loss at what is going on, if this continues, i'll just have to go back to my windows PC and that's something I don't want to do, i don't like using Windows anymore. x.x'

Everything seems to be working fine now guys, I think i was just over-running the CPU power and what not and not letting the Mac cooldown.
