I am away visiting my sister over the long weekend and my nephews psu went up in smoke last night. I will not have time to wait for a decent psu to be delivered so I am going to have go out and get one. Choice is limited to 2 stores one being the big computer one and the other the general electronics chain.

This looks like the best option even though I never heard of this brand:

iCute Modular ATX Dual VGA Power Supply

What you reckon, worth taking a chance.

It's probably ok, I wouldn't call it ideal but it isn't the most demanding system in the World. A simple measure of how good a PSU is would be simply to pick it up, heavier usually implies quality, it's not an absolute measure of course but it's good enough for a rough guide.

I was in a similar "need one quick" position but with a case, ended up gettin an iCute one, probably from the same electrics store :p

Case seemed alright for the money (£30), not the best but it did its job for a few months, wasnt too noisy and build quality was pretty good. If they make PSU's to a similar quality you should be alright for a while :)

i have been running a £18 Genric 500W PSU in donwnstairs pc its is only a amd 3700 and few HDD but been running fine for about 5years and it on at least 5hours a day

Crappy generic ones tend to be ok on low powered systems. All the PSUs at work are cheapo jobs, had about 4 die in 11 years(running 11 PC/Macs). Luckly only the PSU has died on these, but it's still a risk.
