Get rid of the Hiper PSU, not very well regarded now because they seem to blow up after a while. Get a Corsair HX 520W instead. Also, if you can afford it change the graphics card to an ATI X1950 Pro, would be about £110.

I would strongly suggest that you replace that Hiper with something like the Antec TruePower Trio 550W or something of that sort. Hipers blow...literally.

With the limited budget do you really need an X-Fi over the DS3P's onboard sound? Surely that money could be used to improve another area (such as the PSU mentioned)?

After all, you could add a sound card later on when you have the money.

I hope you already have a case ;)

As mentioned above really.. change the PSU. The graphics card is outperformed by the 1950XT but if you really want DX10 then it might be the best for you.

I'd still keep the soundcard you picked though. It's good and will give you surround sound in games which the Realtek onboard sound is abysmal at. Nothing like gorgeous EAX4 to give you an advantage over enemies ;)

The harddrive you picked is a bit small for today. You'll find yourself filling that up with music, videos and games in no time. Unless you have an old drive to go with it I'd get a bigger one like this Seagate 7200.10 .

Get rid of the Hiper. Just do a search for failed/blown up Hipers and you will see why.

I agree about the soundcard. The DS3P has decent HD sound capabilities to be going on with. Put the money towards a Corsair, Seasonic, OCZ or similar. The Antec TruePower Trio 550W did very well in a recent Custom PC labs test and is only a little dearer than the Hiper. Vastly superior as well. You can always add a soundcard later if you really need one. The psu is the single most important component in your pc. ;)

right so psu antec true power instead of the hyper
This is for my friend he wants the xfi card and no to radion :D he doesnt like rad cards.Hell probably get a 8800gtx or better in few months any ways.
Hard drive he doesnt keep music or vids on pc just gaming he wanted a raptor what best quickest drive for 40-50 quid?

If it's only for gaming then 160gb will be enough. The Seagate 7200.10's are probably the best drives you can get. Fast and quiet with a 5yr warranty. You won't find a Raptor at anywhere near that price. They are way overpriced IMHO. I would'nt expect too much from the 8600gt though.

yes the 8600gt will probably be a stop gap till gets something better but decent enough to play cod series on 17 inch monitor

It'll still play Oblivion on max at 1280x1024 with reasonable frame rates I think. It's just not that good when compared to the high end radeon cards or the 8800s. It beats the 7900GT in most things and that card can play any game maxed out at those reses.
