wanna get some ram before prices sore , so was thinking of this for the mrs

You might not be able to run 2400MHz RAM on your board. But what's wrong with your current 16gb?

ahh ok

im just thinking of the price rises thats coming.......plus my wifes ram is a bit old ..shes had it for quite some time ...so its just in case really ...and cash flow too

You won't need more than 16gb for quite a while yet

I wouldn't get new RAM just in case the old stuff fails.

Yeah I was thinking maybe running 8Gigs @2400MHz ....to see if there would have been any difference ....but if your saying the Mobo wont run @2400 ..then I'll leave it I guess ....maybe I might just get a LED strip or two instead

Since you're a bit wary of overclocking your CPU you'd be much better off selling the 6300 and spending the money by sticking an 8320/50 in there
