Ahh the good old confuse the public with RAM speeds trick ;)

RAM speeds (PC3-xxxxx or 1600MHz) are only the safe maximum, what's more important is the voltage & timings.

You could buy the highest rated speed RAM and it will normally work with bus speeds lower then its rating. So even if you bought PC3-12800 RAM, you can still run it at PC3-10666 speeds.

I would say your motherboard should be OK, upgrade to the latest firmware just in case :)

not a huge fan of bios and firmware updates, i always break it. lol.

if you have any alternative motherboard suggestions i can take a look.

EDIT: Comment from the product page : Very well buiilt motherboard being both fast and stable. Very good layout apart from the ATX Power sockets. The main one interferes with the rear of an optical drive. My LG Blu-Ray writer for example will not fit in the second slot due to the PSU connector being hard against the side of the motherboard. This is the reason I do not give 5 stars. Plus side is the version Ock are selling is ver 2.1 which will accept the faster memory. Overall, this is an excellent mobo.

He mentions it being v2.1 and accepts "faster" memory

Not too familiar with AMD chipsets but I guess an equivalent 880G chipset mobo from Asus, MSI or Biostar would be fine.

As for the Gigabyte description, looks like they sell the latest hardware revision so the RAM should be OK .... again firmware updates usually incorporate new CPUs and microcode fixes for various hardware problems on the motherboard. The Gigabyte motherboard you linked has a dual BIOS so upgrading firmware is a doddle even if you screw up.
