This router/modem good? Quick reply please :(

Good for what? Provide some more details mate and someone will be able to help you I'm sure. What do you need it for? What's your ISP, line and setup like? What do you use the net for? Do you need lots of connections (P2P, gaming) or just solid reliability for a bad line?

Hi sorry about the lack of detail, was in a rush:o.

looking for a cheap wired/wireless router/modem mainly for gaming, i have a ipod touch id like to get online with and my isp is adsl24, as for my line its very stable no problems at all.

In that case pretty much anything should do, provided it can handle the connections for gaming. Some routers (especially cheaper ones) don't close old connections for up to five days or so, which totally ruins your experience. LOL

When I was on ADSL (including a stint with ADSL24), I used to use a BT Voyager 2091 and later an AM200 modem wired to a Linksys WRT54GL with Tomato on it. Those things can handle thousands and thousands of connections, are rock solid and stable. Basically anything with a Broadcom chipset should see you right.

Actually, email me. My email is in Trust. You might have to set yours up to access mine (it was ages ago when I joined so I've forgotten lol).

What do you mean by closing old connections?

Routers have a limit (whether arbitrary or practical) on the number of connections they can have open at once. Great routers (which are rare) have a capacity for a huge number of connections, AND know how to use them wisely.

Conversely, a lot (most) of the routers out there are limited (often intentionally) to a few connections, and don't use them wisely. For example the D-Link DIR-615 has only 30 connections and once you've "used" it the router will let the connection stay "hung" (not re-usable) for around 5 days. That's terrible! Hence they need rebooting an awful lot, usually every day - often sooner.

The WRT54GL on the other hand can open well over 8,000 connections, and recycles them every 10 seconds or so when they're not in use. Or at least it certainly does when you put Tomato firmware on there. Much better! :)

I'm no fan of Belkin routers personally. But YMMV. That's why I asked you to email me above lol...

Just seen loads of people having problem with the Belkin F5D8633UK4A plus im having second thoughts so it's going back tomorrow, ill live with my linksys a while longer, ill use a bit more of my grey matter the next time and not be in such a rush.

Cheers Rainwind for the help much appreciated.
