This spec run Dirt 2

Have been chopping and changing my build ideas to get cost down a bit. How does this look? Is this gfx card the best value for money at the moment for DX11?

The 5770 is the best value for money..........
That build looks good..........A Phenom II or i5 system will be better than a i3 though and specially as you want to run FSX

Will maybe wait on an i5 price drop and see what happens. Those 5770s are better priced for my budget. What manufacture should I go with? So many to choose from.

I don't know how people are not getting this. LOOK -

i5 750 - you can get this easily to 4Ghz with this setup (great mobo and cooler). You get a 5850, the ram you want and the case you want. The 600w psu is all you need and is still modular (go for a better psu if you like). Went with the 640gb caviar black as these drives are brilliant and reliable. Forgot thermal paste but no biggie, only about a fiver.

Stonking setup, all parts in stock - 840 squid. Job done.

I also want to run Dirt 2. Does this spec seem ok for it?

An E5300 with 2Gb, HD 3650 plays it with ease.........

..........on the lowest settings.

So what is your question be more specific and for god sack your paying £212 for a mainstream GFX card i would want a lot of money back if that didn't play any game at mid (if not higher) settings ever made.

I'm really sorry if my newbie questions upset you! I wouldn't ask if I already know the answers.

That's fair enough just have a look around, look at some reviews and stuff before you ask on here! Everone had to start somewhere!

No problems. I think FSX is more CPU intensive than GPU so probably getting an i5 would be better even if both it and i3 are clocked to 4GHz. Not sure if it supports multi core or not.

Thanks guys. I think i'll maybe get the i5 with an overclocked bundle.

Could someone please explain the difference between an i3 running at 4Ghz and an i5 at 4Ghz, apart from that one is dual core and the other is quad. Does the i3 not support some kind of virtual dual core? How would this affect gaming?

i3 is dual core with less features, while i5 is dual and quad core. If going i5 get the quad core cpu's as they are much better value for money. The dual cores are massively overpriced.
