 Looking at possibly upgrading to the i7 platform (its been a while!)

What is the current batch of 920 i7 CPU's are they any good ("A" or "B" batch??)

What sort of clocks are people getting from these, I have also noticed that OCUK have stopped doing a "guaranteed" 4.2Ghz OC CPU, does this mean that the latest round of 920 i7s are not as clockable as the older batch ?

Hi, I'm aware that OCUK dont usually cherry pick (unless maybe you pop in and ask really nicely), but what I am really interested in is what people have had recently and more importantly how good they have been when overclocked. :)

Interesting there is no guaranteed 4.2Ghz CPU's right now, have there been problems maintaining the guaranteed speeds or has OCUK just decided its better to let prople achieve their own OC ??

Setter - from your stepping I can see its an "A" batch, have you been able to get a stable 4.2Ghz out of yours ? I take it you are running at 20x200Mhz ? (or are you running at 21x190Mhz with lower lattencies ?).
Also does the P6T Deluxe have 2 sets of CPU mounting holes so you can fit a 775 cooler if required (Like the standard P6T), thinking of my VapoLS.

Is the reading on coretemp of 147.3 Watts an accurate representation of wht tdp for a 4Ghz 920 i7. or is that a generic reading for the x 21 multi ? does it go up/down dependant on the fsb/voltage also or only change with multi ? (could be the answer to another thread of mine !).

At 3.4, 3.6, 3.8 and 4.0 (all on 21 x multi) i was getting a tdp reading of 147.3.

So I guess its just a generic TDP as you would think the current draw would increase as the speed increases ? also it looks like the same reading is displayed no matter what the CPU voltage is (so the answer being the TDP is NOT displayed correctly for an over clockers system !). :(

Thanks, I noticed it was a question you asked a while back on this forum about the difference between 21 and 20 multi's TDP. ;)

Good to hear all the OEMs are clocking well (why do you no longer have the option for a Guaranteed 4.2Ghz CPU like previously ?). are the OEM CPUS of a similar period/batch to your Retail units ?
Many thanks.
