For info, the blue rings are harder (50A) than the clear and black ones (40A) so they'll dampen the sound somewhat more.

However, if you've got one of those fancy RGB keyboards, I'd lean towards getting the clear silicone ones so the light still comes through :)

I guess for a fiver it's not bad to try out, not much to lose if I decide to take them off.

What keyboard do you have? You'll need to choose whether you want the softer (40A) ones or the harder (50A) ones. Obviously if you have an LED/RGB keyboard, I'd go for the clear Silicone ones.

Does it matter if you have brown/red/blue switches or can these be used on all? I think I have brown switches and it can still be a bit too loud when I'm using the PC and everyone is asleep

No mate. The stems on the key caps themselves are all the same.

The problem with mechanical keyboards and the noise is not just the bottoming out though. In fact, it's often not even the main problem with many models, especially the non-clicky keys such as browns... it's actually the sound of the key returning back UP which causes the most noise. I found this with a couple of Corsairs I tried, and even with the o-ring mod the noise bothered me too much. They aren't suddenly going to render your keyboard silent that's for sure. It's all very subjective though... obviously noise doesn't bother everyone, but the only way you'll know is by trying for yourself.
