ok got my rig built y'day but didn't get anything installed etc.

i have just put in my old hd with OS, drivers and all my music and videos from my last rig on it and it ran fine...i thought i had to install new drivers. but the computer in general is kinda laggy now

i put in a second blank hdd again sata. i install windows xp onto it, so now i have OS on both hdds then i put the disk that came with the mobo and installed the drivers onto the second hdd.

but i can't take out the first hdd and leave the second one in to run on it's own, have i done something wrong?

what should i do? i want to take out the first hdd and sell it

Did you leave the old hard drive connected when you installed Windows onto the new hard drive? If so the chances are that Windows has split some of the important files off onto the first hard drive it came to (e.g. the old one). The easiest solution is to disconnect the old hard drive and reformat and begin the installation process onto the second hard drive anew.

actually is there no way i could just fix my old hard drive then clone it?

can i install the drivers that came with the mobo onto the old hdd or would it wipe the drive?

XP is just setup to run as dual boot because of both drives, just google for how to edit the boot config, remove the line that applies to the hdd you want to remove. Shutdown, remove, reboot.......

;)
