This will end well...

... I mean, what could go wrong?

It hasnt had the greatest of starts either.
Speaking to Belfast Live, the bonfire builders said that they were almost going to abandon their plans to beat the record due to the tragic death of Antiville bonfire builder John Steele on Saturday night. However at a late night meeting his mother and sister gave approval for them to carry on in his memory.

There are also plans to honour John prior to the lighting of the bonfire at midnight with a minute's applause.
In his memory!

I was amazed when I first saw these last year. A big bonfire yawn....but these are just ridiculous- huge. Never mind climbing up them - brave bordering on bonkers. I'd be good for about 5 pallets high.

I think it's the UK's attempt at a burning Man in the states

In his memory!

Kid at the school my wife works at got himself killed a few years ago, as he decided that in order to look cool, he’d pop a wheelie while riding down the road. I mean, they would literally ride down the length of the road, in the middle of the carriage way on 1 wheel. Unfortunately for him though, he lost control and veered into the path of an oncoming bus on a 40MPH limit road, and got himself pink-misted.

His mum however, before the funeral said in the local paper that the kids should go out and do wheelies on their bikes in his memory, and wanted them to carry on afterwards, showing that she’s learned precisely nothing from her own kid getting himself killed. Either that, or I guess she thinks it’d be nice if some of his mates would join him in whatever comes after this world.
