Hi All, I'm looking to take my eldest and a couple of his friends to Thorpe Park this week, and the cheapest I can get the tickets is through one of his friends' parents' employer corporate discount. It's about £28 a ticket compared to my own employee benefit of £42.

It does warn that they might check your employment - has anyone ever used such a discount at Thorpe Park (or other Merlin attractions like Alton Towers) and have they ever checked if you are really eligible for the discount?

I suspect no such check is ever made, tbh, but would prefer some reassurance before dropping £150 on it all.

No check is made. Worst case say your friend bailed and you stood in as an emergency, or some other plausible BS story.

Bit cold for Thorpe this week isn't it?

I wouldn't worry, nobody's checking anything.
Yeah, will need to wrap up warm. I think there's some Halloween stuff going on, with the park open until 9pm.

I've never been before, but we did Alton Towers last summer, and Drayton Manor this year, so thought a change would be good, and the drive time is similar to AT.

Thorpe Park and Alton Towers have the same parent company so I think it will be ok.

In future, if you are able to commit to a specific day, get the tickets from eBay for the date that you desire. Last time I + friend went to Alton, our £5 eBay tickets checked in fine and we went on absolutely everything no probs :D

Alton Towers is better than Thorpe Park, but Thorpe park is still pretty decent.

Years ago it used to have a train ride to a part over the other side of the lake and they had farm animals there. Long gone now.

I'd say the only thing with Alron Towers it's almost too much there for one day, particularly if it's busy.

Last time I was there I was smoking the old special tobacco, that would have been heading towards 20 years ago...

Can only add my personal experience. I booked through a work discount scheme, was either CSSC or Bluelight and no checks done.

We went last year during social distancing, so some of the queues were minimal. Only twice did we wait more than 30 minutes (Hex and Th13teen), and managed to get on all the major rides except Runaway Mine Train (which, funnily enough, was the only surviving ride from my first visit nearly 30 years ago).

Whereas Drayton Manor this summer was pretty **** thanks to the queues. Was quite disappointed in the experience tbh.

Hoping it'll be not too terrible for queues this week at TP. Though I think it being half term means it'll be pretty bad.

Totally legal tax minimisation is often considered heinous and utterly contemptible, especially when done by wealthy Tories. Uproar often seen on these forums.

Fraud however, by a fellow forum member is fine and advice as to chances of being caught freely given. Funny old place... :)

I have no idea these days but we did a work day out at Thorpe Park a few years ago using employer corporate discount and no one checked then. Happened to be the day they were running Stealth at the fastest (as far as I'm aware) it was ever ran - quite an experience.

It's great when these places are quiet.

I remember going to Thorpe Park once, it was even a nice day, but the place was dead, we went on the "X" roler coaster thing about 15 times just at literally walked off back around then on again.

And the opposite when they are heaving, not really much fun at all.

I don't think any checks are carried out anywhere in these places. We went to Alton towers last year and my lad had a massive discount due to disability and I went as main carer to which I don't think I paid anything. I was told to bring his paperwork as proof and mine as carer, we did but they didnt check a thing. A bit off topic, the other family we went with complained and the park manager over heard and had a chat with them, they managed to get a whole family pass for free off the back of my lads disability and didn't even offer it to us considering it was an issue with our party which to be frank was a trivial/non issue in our eyes. The other family complain about anything and everything everywhere. I really dont like them to be honest lol.

Yeah I agree, Alton towers is a bit big for a one day visit. Last year was the first time I went in years. Air was being built last time I went.

have the cereral buy 1 get 1 free tickets finished for theme parks?
I have one, but using the portal to book didn't show any available dates. They're not on the boxes currently, but I have a box of cornflakes which has been in the cupboard for a few months :D
