How could he not double-check which drive he was doing?
Sure, everybody deletes files/folders by accident at some point. But when your dealing with $38 billion account files (or more importantly, 1000-word courseworks

) you double check every time you save/overwrite and you keep 4/5 backups on the go :/

Never managed anything close to that - but I guess its easy enough to do (ive blown up my own hardware before, but never deleted backup's etc)

According to department staff, they now have a proven and regularly tested backup and restore procedure.

No wonder the technician never got fired. Looks like the whole place failed to do their job properly and his "mistake" highilghted the overall problem with their system.
