18/01/2007 "The flagship X2 processor on socket 939 is now no longer in production and OcUK has sourced the last remaining stocks in the UK. Now at over half its original sell price and easily overclockable to FX60 and beyond speeds be quick to grab one of the last remaining 300 units we have."

Well I thought I'd rushed and bought one of the last 300 in October! I guess I never learn to ignore marketing hype

I know I had the same problem with my 4000+, had to get one of that well known auction site but they seem to be in stock again, not same stepping though :p

are 4800's any good for gaming?
Depends on the rest of your system but they certainly won't struggle with most games :) Obviously a Core 2 Duo would be quicker overall but this would be a good upgrade to an existing socket 939 system.

Well, I only fairly recently bought what was at the time the only socket 939 x2 processor on here - the 4600+ retail boxed set.

Is the only difference between the 4600+ and the 4800+ the 1mb cache? My 4600+ is currently running at 2.76@ stock volts, anything higher and one of the cores isn't prime stable.

Looking for something to push my crossfire setup a bit more as I believe its cpu limited at the mo. Anybody bought any of this latest stock, and can report oc success, batches etc?
