I have been using Ubuntu for years, so PC-BSD should be good right... Anyway app cafe is strange, not design wise, but I go to install a app, I get working in the top right, same for delete (no real way to tell progress) & I was wondering is it me or does the OS seem a bit off?

I've tried PC-BSD in the past. I didn't give it a fair shot to be honest. While there are similarities with Linux it is not the same. FreeBSD has some excellent documentation if your willing to invest the time into it.

EDIT - Its the FreeBSD Handbook on there website

Unless it's for a router or nas or something, it doesn't make sense to me to use any BSD based OS other than OS X. That's just me though. Perhaps there's some other use case that I'm missing. Maybe I'm just getting old, but just seems like the way of unnecessary pain to me!

I tried it for a while (FreeBSD that is not PC-BSD) and while I did enjoy the consistency of the OS, it became frustrating after a while.

Not really keen on the idea of PC-BSD as I like to customise my own desktop and there are lots of Linux distros that can give a decent out of the box experience already.
