Hi guys, not been building for a few years, but decided to take a plunge and take advantage of some gift cards and special offers.
I went from:
i7 6700k
Corsair H105 AIO cooler
16gb DDR4 @ 2133mhz
Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Ultra Gaming
GTX 1070 Asus Founders edition
512gb Sata SSD
To:
Ryzen 7 5700x
Noctua NH-U12S Redux
32gb DDR4 @ 3200mhz
ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming
RX 7600
1tb NVMe m.2 PCIe Gen 4 SSD
Upgrade has been night & day, been such a refresh it's hard to really articulate... My 1070 build was barely handling games, with frequent CPU bottlenecking and sub 60fps drops in games like Spiderman Remastered and Horizon zero dawn, The new builds 1% lows tend to be closer to the average overall FPS of the previous system.
Luckily I'm giving my old build a second life, giving it to a friend with a fresh case/CPU cooler and windows install.
Thank you for the advice, only issue I've ran in to is the 4pin ARGB headers on my motherboard, after buying ARGB case fans with a three pin connector, managed to circumvent it by using the ADD Gen 2 header and a provided splitter with the fans.
