Does anyone fancy putting me off an Audi S3?

I'm looking at my next machine (currently drive a 106 gti), and going through some options........I love my girlies mini cooper s, because its got bags of character (mostly due to the charger). So I'm thinking something with forced induction, and then we saw an S3! I would obviously opt for the 225 quattro version (mk1). Has anyone had experience with the Audi which would persuade me otherwise?

I would love a scooby but insurance companies want 2 grand, compared to just under 1 grand for the s3!!

I think they are pretty nice cars. Does the 225 use the 1.8T engine? That combined with the quattro 4wd would make for a very nice car indeed. What sort of price were you thinking of?

Yeah the lovely 1.8T lump. The new shape has got the 2.0FSI Turbo or the 3.2 V6, but they are too much for me. Looking on the web I would be looking at around 16K for a low-ish mileage one. I could get an import impreza wrx 2 door for about 13K but I reckon that would cost more to run and insure.

I'm thinking a set of 17" A8 wheels on a black car......then get it revo'd to 260bhp!

no quattro on the A3, its got haldex. Never liked the A3 myself, but i have only ever driven a TDi 130 sport (seem to drive loads of tdi sports, must be popular accross the vag range) andthe ride was too harsh.
