Should be a decent budget gaming setup good for 5/5.1Ghz all core OC?

It appears to have the same VRM / power setup as the the ROG strix boards, however, this picture shows 3 missing caps on the left bank (left of CPU socket) which makes me wonder if it is actually the same:

Thanks. Looks like they both have 6 layers and 12 phase VRMs for CPU, only difference being +2 for GT/SA on asus and +1+1 for MSI.

I wouldn't buy Asus. Their brand is so well respected that they're complacent. Very late with BIOS updates, after sales support issues etc. Their stix products fly off the shelves because the brand has street credibility among amateurs trying to look cool with build pictures etc. Oh look at me with my Strix board, Strix GPU and Strix keyboard.

Could you let me know if you see much difference in gaming? I'm on a 5820k at 4.5ghz so fairly similar to the 4.4ghz 6950x in terms of IPC.

Well for example , Fallout 4 i was getting 100% usage on a single core in some areas and now that's down to around 60-70% and a much more consistent frame rate , i wouldn't say my maximum frame rates have changed at all but i'm bottle necked by my Titan xp , Fallout 76 was also also a huge improvement and in general per core usage is much lower across the board. I should note that i haven't done ANY overclocking yet and tbh i haven't felt the need to yet

Not sure what your budget is but im pretty sure option A would lose to option B in FPS even though its cheaper?

Thats my take on a budget gaming build anyway.

Option A

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £884.06 (includes shipping: £11.10)

Option B

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £821.03 (includes shipping: £11.10)

It's mainly multiplayer titles I play, have you got any titles like that with 64+ players on a server?

This is the whole problem i find when people base their Cpu usage on the overall usage of the cores , you need to look at each individual core, you maxing any cores when playing ?

Nope, I've found a few overclocked 5820k vs more modern 6-8 core CPU comparisons online. It looks like I would see some decent gains in the minimums in certain titles, particularly when paired with some high hz - low timing RAM.

What games are you playing ?
