Hi guys

I currently have quite an old system which dates about 4 years old. It was top spec at the time and the intention was to buy the best so it would last for a long time. Alas it is time again to put together a new system that will last for the next few years.

Can you nice people give me your views on what i have picked out below and if it needs some tweaking let me know.

I won't be using the machine for much gaming with my main focus being on Photoshop, Video Editing and other general powerhouse stuff.

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 LGA775 'Yorkfield' 2.50GHz 6MB-cache CPU - Retail £199.74
BFG GeForce 9800 GTX 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £193.86
OCZ 4GB DDR3 PC3-10666C7 1333MHz Platinum (2x2GB) Dual Channel DDR3 x 2 (8 GIG TOTAL) £505.22
Asus P5E3 Deluxe Intel X38 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard £155.09
Thermaltake VH6000BWS Armor+ Super Tower Case with Window - Black £146.86
Gigabyte ODIN GT 800W ATX2.2 Quad-SLi Compliant Modular PSU Modular PSU (GE-S800A-D1) £105.74

I already have 2 x 150gig raptors in RAID 0 and 4 x 1TB drives and 2 x dvd/cd writers

Hi mate

thanks for taking the trouble to do that.

As i said i just spec'd up a machine i thought to be a bit future proof but that's why i love this forum so much there is always so many knowledgeable people just happy to help and give you their spin on a rig.

i have just realised that i plan to use windows xp but i'm sure it has a limit on how much memory it supports???.....i dread to switch to vista, i have already taken it off a new hp laptop because it is so slow and clunky!
