According to the box some of the specs are different too:
- Max Read: up to 250MB/s
- Max Write: up to 240MB/s 210MB/s
- Sustained Write: up to 200MB/s 160MB/s
- Random Write 4KB (Aligned): 18,000 15,000 IOPS
- 146 (L) x 101.6 (W) x 25.40mm 11mm (H)

Not complaining though, minimal difference and it was an absolute steal for the price, hell it was only £35 more than a 500GB Velociraptor and will totally annihilate it on performance while making 0 noise :)

hello

Is that the 480Gb unit??

Forgot to add, if the pic's/stats don't convey it this is really thin, like same height as a normal SSD and the ends slope off, reminds me of the half height Maxtor HDD's but better.

Can you benchmark it with AS-SSD and see what numbers it actually delivers?

I.. should be able too, ill get right on that and post back, I'm sure there's a mahcine I can use round here somewhere.

Yup :) should really have mentioned that shouldn't I lol.

Ill get that changed, apologies for that, thats not on of OCZ for providing that info to us if it is incorrect.

I'm a bit confused now, the box that the drive arrived in clearly states the figures I posted above on the back, however by typing the product code (oczssd3-2vtx480g) into google I can find OCZ's spec sheet for it which clearly shows the same figures for the 480GB drive as your product page.

I would have thought somebody at the OCZ factory may have simply put the wrong sticker on the box except the sticker also has the product code on it

Anyway it doesn't really bother me as I knew what I was buying, a giant SSD at a low price that while slower than my Samsung 840 will drastically improve my storage capacity and outperform a mechanical drive all while being silent, and OcUK have delivered big time :D

Gutted i missed out on the price yesterday, I would have grabbed on instantly, not so sure at £180 though, I don't know how I even missed it as I was keeping my eye on this thread pretty much every day :(

If these come down to £160 I'll have one, I guess I'm just annoyed at missing the opening price.

Put a post up in CS FAO 5UB :)

You got that quick, im looking forward to getting mine and finally having a silent PC, my raptor has served me well, but ill be glad to see it go.

I wish i could have fit my steam folder on my 840 pro, theyve been giving away so many games recently for less than half price i just cant resist buying them, this will be my steam drinve :)

ah i didnt know there was such thing as a steam drive is was just how i phrased it, i just mean my drive i keep most my steam games on. I normally just install the ones im playing the most to my SSD and keep the other games on my raptor.

I honestly would not use these of they were free, had 2 vertex drives myself and both died within a couple of months.

That aside, the prices are not that good when you look at the Samsung's with the current cash back.

Faster drive, reliable and better speeds. No brainer IMO.

How much faster is the 480GB than lets say a Seagate barracuda?
Im finding it impossible to find speeds of the barracuda.... or maybe its getting a bit late

So, I know someone that bought this and it wasnt the 2E, the 2 basic turned up as shown above, this is a ripoff right because it'll die quickly right? The 2e is also a square drive whereas the one OCUK shipped is rounded at the end. Kinda want to know which it really is as I'd like to order one but only if it really IS the 2e.

Any cheap 100-128 GB drives on the market atm?

Bought a couple Kingston 120GB drives for £50 last year, would like something similar for my laptop at work. SATA-II is all the lappy can do.

Budget is ~£50 for a 100GB drive, or less for less storage :p But the best deals I can find atm are 60GB for £50 or 100GB for £80.
