Thoughts on circumcision?

Initial thoughts - No way.

I saw my step dad get a vasectomy, he was walking like a cowboy for weeks.

He's a 'man's man' but even then you could see the shear disconfort he was in.

Sod getting anything lopped off.

I don't agree with the hydiene thing, you will get smelly and smeggy if you don't wash either which way. Quite a gross topic tbh :p

I had this done about 6 years ago. I had phimosis where the foreskin would not retract at all. I had it so bad the steroid creams would not work at all and I persevered for well over a year trying to avoid circumcision. In the end it was the only option left other than a dorsal slit which more often looks worser than a circumcision.

When I had my op, I only had a local anaesthesia which was totally rubbish and traumatizing. They stuck a needle in my bladder and several times in my testicles. The pain of the needle going in those regions was so horrible they had to hold me down. Why they didn't just put me to sleep I don't know.

<snip> (not meant for teh lulz)

Same situation here. Had it done at 17, 21 now. No problems at all. Very sensitive/painful for the first week or two, couldn't walk properly. Fine now. I got put to sleep though so it wasn't as bad for me!

Worse pain I've ever gone through, especially the ansthetic needles in the sides of my sack. :(

Oh, not to mention the humilation of having my hampton (which had comically shrunk for obvious reasons) taped to my tummy so my sack could be shaved :(

Had mine done when I was 8 days old, apparently they got me drunk beforehand.
Can't comment on the sexual preferences stuff though as the major part of my sex life has happened since then.

Most women do prefer circumsized men...

There is a decrease in sensitivity but theres no problem getting it up... infact you probably get it up quicker and last longer...

Personally I think the practise is barbaric however... unless medically absolutely necessary or a choice made later in life...

Mine was done as a baby. Everything works fine, no pullback for me. Lob it out no hassle.

From personal experience I'd say to the OP that any adult that wants it doing for anything other than medical reasons is mad. It hurts like hell.

I had mine done at the ripe old age of 34 (2 years ago). I basically had a medical condition called paraphemosis which is were the foreskin is retracted and then gets stuck. I'd never had problems in the past and always kept myself clean, yet one night it just basically got stuck. I panicked and spent hours with a bag of frozen peas over my little fella to no effect. First place I went to was the internet and a quick google suggested a sugar solution for reducing swelling, I sprinkled loads on my tadger, again with no effect :(

By the morning I'd rung the NHS Direct, had to explain my predicament to 3 different nurses before being told to go straight to hospital. Had to tell my Dad and get him to drive as I could hardly walk by this point. Did the whole waiting in the hospital with my Dad like some scene from American Pie, with him constantly asking what I'd been doing to end up like this. Finally the doctors took a look and I was told they would inject anesthetic in the base of my penis and then try to force the forskin back into place. They did say that if this didn't work I'd need an emergency circumcision. After two of the most painful injections I've ever had they managed to get it sorted. A trip to see a specialist afterwards confirmed my bell was to big and was told I needed the chop (I know, I could say my foreskin was too small but I prefer my way ;) )

I was knocked out for the op itself, afterwards I felt fantastic for about 18 hours afterwards probably from all the drugs, but once they wore off I was in agony. I'd say it was the worst 2 weeks of my life, I usually sleep on my front but couldn't obviously, and whenever I did get to sleep I kept getting erections that were nearly ripping out the stiches from around my *******. I had to go back to the docs after 4 days and when she checked she said that they had put the stiches in too tight, cue a trip back to hospital were they considered taking out the stiches and doing it over again, but luckily they decided to just put me on much stronger pain relieve for 2 weeks till it had healed.

As for the whole sensitivity thing, 2 years later and I've noticed no difference. For a month after the op I was more sensative and it took a while to get used to the feeling against your undies, but after that it went back to feeling just like it always has.

Just as well you didn't ask here, you'd be running about screaming with a mustard laden knob.

Had mine done as a child, about 4 or 5 I think. I have a scar on the top which made me feel incredibly concious of it - so much so in fact I turned down or shyed away from 'action' during my school years.

The first time my (now) wife and I had sex she had a feeling (no pun intended) I was cut, but didn't know for certain. She much prefers it; she wasn't so keen on other aspects of a sex life with a non-circumised boyfriend but doesn't mind with me.

If we have a son, she'd like to have him circumised too. I'm not sure.

My best mate had it done 3 years ago and it really boosted his confidence, ironically. He didn't notice a lack of sensitivity, prefers the look himself and generally finds it more comfortable.

Incidentally, I was totally comfortable with it, once I lost the V-plates.

Don't really see the point in having it done, have no problems with mine...

How long does it take for the foreskin to grow back?

It grows back within 6 months as long as you eat a lot of cheese ... :)

On a serious note - don't be silly protect your willy

If you do ever have a son, do the decent thing and let him make that decision himself.

Why a parent would want to have part of their child sliced off and thrown away, for whatever reason, is beyond me :(
