Trying to arrange a family holiday and getting a bit of push back from a couple of folk due to middle eastern issues.

Personally I'm not too bothered, there's no official advice saying not to go. US and UK bases are there which could actually make it safer than other resorts?

There's only UK bases, but it might make them a target more than provide saftey.

I'd still go.

As someone who has family there, I can tell you that none of my family have expressed a worry about anything happening in Cyprus. It's a possibility of course as with most of western Europe, but I wouldn't say the chances are higher than anywhere else.

Too close for comfort for me - and as above the fact we have bases there could potentially make it more of a target. There’s a million places to go on holiday, why pick somewhere so close to an active war zone  Literally go to any other Greek island if that’s what you’re after…

Just comeback from Kos, which was fab, almost booked Cyprus for October but didn't want to risk what could be loads of extra aircraft noise (or worse given Trump), going to Crete instead,

We've just come back from a fortnight in Cyprus, staying near Paphos and apart from it being a bit quiet, you wouldnt have known there was anything going on. We booked in January, well before the latest round of Israel/Iran attacks, and I must admit, i was more than a bit concerned when USA waded in on Iran and we were out there. I'm not sure if i'd book now though, with all the increased unrest in the area.

From speaking with the locals, it's very busy in the Larnaca area as thats being used as a hub for people leaving Israel.

not sure about cyprus but i have been to athens (greece) in the middle of summer (aug/sept time) a year ago

at 20:30 at night it was 33oC
