Just wanted to get some feedback on my intentions for a new i7 build...

Already have a mouse (G5), hopefully have enough cash left over to do some modding and sleeving etc. Most of the parts are chosen fit the red/black theme I am aiming for.

I wasn't sure if I should go for the Asus Triton 88 or the Noctua NH-U12P, can the brown fans be replaced? The cooling seems to be a little better on the Noctua?

Looks good. There are a few things you could change (D2 for D1, 260 for the OCUK one), but it's mostly personal preference.

If you have to choose between those two, the NH-U12P is definitely the better choice. However, if you plan on replacing the fans, it might be better to go for a Thermalright Ultra Extreme and just buying a couple of extra fans.

I have added a couple of extra 120 of the Xilence fans for this purpose as the Triton 88 allows you to add a couple, so I would be able to use them. Actually prefer the look of the Thermalright as it doesn't have the blue LED that the Triton does. However I would probably go for the Noctua if changing the fans is fairly easy.

I just got my Noctua in today. Looks a quality product with well-engineered mounting kit. The fans are eminently replaceable, insofar as they're not attached until you build it.

personally ide change the psu as it's a bit overkill for the spec, even if you sli'd a pair of 260's it'd still be overkill.

Yeah the fans are very easy to change. They just squeeze in between two bits on the fins that stick out, and then there are some clips that go in some slots in the fins and the screw holes in the fans. When you buy it, it only comes with 1 fan in, and you have to remove it anyway to put the anti vibration strips in.

What do you think would be enough? There wasn't that much of a price difference between the 700W and the 1000W (the coolermaster anyway). I currently have a 580W Hiper Type R but I wasn't sure if it would be enough to run the new build. I would only want a modular. Main reason I went for it was I know someone who has it already and it's a nice piece of kit.

I guess it also gives me some upgrade room...

well theres ample extra capacity to run a pair of GTX295's or 4870 X2's thats for sure. a 750W psu would be more than enough for that rig with plenty of "upgrade room" to spare.

be quiet 650W:D

That what i would go for aswell.

Also change the case but that just preference.

Go for the Noctua Heatsink:D.

Also you could look at a 4870 for £156.99 inc VAT thats a steal and you get a free game not sure what its like imagine it not to be the best. You will also benefit slightly the extra 256MB ram plus its GDDR5

Looks like a nice set up take pictures remember

Thanks for the input guys, I will look into the Be Quiet 650W.

I'm a little away from buying the stuff, need to save some cash first but I plan to take some pics when I get going.

EDIT - had a look at the price of the Be Quiet 650W, it's only £20 cheaper than the 1000W Coolermaster so even though I won't be using all 1000W at the moment, I'm wondering what the advantage of the 650W is??

keep your coolermaster psu and if you want to downgrade dont go below 850Watt or you'll end up upgrading it again in the future if you wish to go for dx11 cards sli. As for the cpu cooler go for the Thermalright 120 extreme and add any fan you wish.
