Thoughts on MobileMe / alternatives

I need to be able to sync my calendar across:

Home PC (Win7 w. Outlook)
Home laptop (Mac)
Work PC (WinXP w. Outlook)
iPhone 3GS

I'm not particularly fussed about contacts, photos or storage (got dropbox or a webserver for that). MobileMe will do this, obviously, but I don't particularly fancy paying through the nose for it. Google can push stuff to my iPhone, but can it sync to and from Outlook and Mail?

Thoughts on my options?

Thanks :D

There's an app that lets you sync your Google calendar with Outlook, so yes it can. You can use CalDAV with iCal to sync it with iCal in OS X so it should do what you need.

You can setup gmail as an exchange account on the 3gs, which will allow you to sync mail and calendar.

Although I don't use an email client, I just access email through web browser, it does work very well. Both inboxes and outboxes/sent items are in sync on phone and web browser. Also with gmail on exchange, emails are instant on iPhone andnot checked every 15mins or what ever setting you have chosen through push.

I buy my MobileMe from eBay.

£30 for a year's subscription.. about what I'd be paying if I had XBox Live so I can live with it.

Email is instant with push. You are thinking of the traditional "fetch" way of receiving.
