Hi
no idea when this happened. only owned the car a month but I would like to think I would have noticed before now if damage had been long term.
not hit any kerbs that I know of... the roads around here are atrocious but not hit awful potholes that I can think of either ... but summat has done it.

a mate thinks it may just be the rim protector and the tyre is still safe but gonna pop to tyre place for professional view

I could really do without buying a new tyre now but need it to be safe
what do you reckon..... replace or ignore (or glue)

Just to update, i took the car to a garage I trust and they said the tyre was ok to still use, likely be advisory on MOT but not a fail

ordered this from amazon hope it does the job just to tidy up... Note... it is not needed to repair the tyre just to hide the annoying "flap" so hoping i do not need to buy the really expensive stuff

coincidental ! : i'd bought the same for some bicycle puncture repairs - not now sure that rubber solution is the same as vulcanizing fluid (which they suggest on web page)
anyway had several failed patches (2 punctures over recent months - 1hour walking ) and about to buy some of the better known tip top brand that says vulcanizing,
hopefully doesn't matter for a non-pressured tyre flap.
