Been wanting to build a dedicated quiet xbmc machine for a while, was hoping a new faster zacate chip would surface but given up now and decided to go for a celeron instead.

Celeron G530

Cheapest m-itx board with hdmi out

4gb ram

Silverstone Lascala SC08 m-itx case with 60w psu

WD 3tb 'red' hdd

Could you guys help me spec the board and ram to keep cost down. It needs to be as cheap as possible! Also, if anyone can see any potential issues with the spec vs case please let me know.

Cheers guys.

Ahh....ok, good spot thank you. Any suggestions on a nice small case that will fit a mitx board and a 3.5 hdd, preferably one that looks minimalistic an no more than £80.

Akasa, CiT, Inwin, Compucase and many more make budget 'minimal' looking cases that include a psu, at around or way under your budget.

If none of those appeal, look at Streacom/Wesena (the same cases under different branding) cases that require you to purchase a Pico psu on top of the case price.

With the rules in place we can't link to places that sell cases Ocuk don't have, it's time for you to start googling.

When you find a case you like, by all means come and ask what hardware will fit.

The Celeron G530 only supports ram up to DDR3-1066 so don't bother going for anything faster than DDR3-1333. Just find the cheapest pair of memory and don't bother getting ram with heat spreaders so it keeps the profile nice and low on the sticks. Don't spend anymore than £20 on the memory though.

For motherboard I would get the MSI H61I-E35, can be found for £46 delivered and has HDMI.
