I've been looking to build a pc specifically for gaming for some time now. Mainly play Overwatch, CS, call of duty, battlefield and GTA. Budget is around £1500 and I already have a 1080p monitor which I can upgrade to 1440p when my bank account allows.

Case: NZXT source 340 - £70
Motherboard: ASUS ROG strix x370-F - £159
CPU: Ryzen 7 1800X - £230
GPU: Gigabyte Radeon RX vega 64 8gb - £399
RAM: Team group Vulcan T-force 16gb 3000mhz - £110
PSU: Corsair CX-M series 650w 80 plus bronze - £84
SSD: Gigabyte 240gb - £30
HDD: Seagate 4tb BarraCuda - £90

TOTAL: ~ £1185 (not including os, mouse or keyboard)

Any thoughts or recommendations would be greatly appreciated .

Oh damn, definitely 4tb! I'll keep my eye open for some info on the VII

Thanks

matching your budget .

i5 9700- clocked to 4.9/5ghz will beat ryzen for Gaming specially at 1080p untill you can move to 1440p. even hen will have slight lead.
RTX 2060 matches Vega 64 and gtx 1070ti/80 in terms of performance but has added fecture of the Tensor cores - handy as more games code for DSLL

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,160.47 (includes shipping: £12.60)

Nvidia now allows g-sync on Freesync screen with a few already been certified

latter would keep you in full budget !

Pushing to the max, pure focus on gaming. 8 cores to last longer then 6 core above and clock to 4.9/5ghz all cores will still perform faster then ryzen 1700/2700 at 1080p/1440p gaming

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,439.47 (includes shipping: £12.60)

though ryzen value. very hard to miss out on!

ryzen 2700 and rtx 2080! overkill for 1080p and ryzen 2700 would handy cap it in older games but games like BFV - enable Ray tracing and enjoy quality 1080p visuals !

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,490.48 (includes shipping: £12.60)

as a heads up. AIB Vega vii are a few weeks away

Hey, Been a while since i've been around. Work and life got in the way of my build but maybe not a bad thing. Significant other and myself are saving up for a house which but I also managed to pick up a PC from a friend of a friend for cheap. Its an older rig but it runs every game im throwing at it for now.

Specs are:

AMD FX 8350
Zotac GTX 960 2gb
16GB DDR3 RAM
Gigabyte 78LMT-USB3
2TB Seagate HDD

CPU was running around 80C+ under load so first thing i done was transplant all parts to a case I had sitting around (Coolermaster Masterbox lite 3.1) Not the best case but it's better than the dust filled one the parts came in. Also took off the stock CPU cooler, cleaned off the thermal paste and fitted a Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO. CPU is now sitting around 60-70 under high load and GPU rarely goes above 70C.

My plan now is to slowly accumulate parts for the new build.

Start accumulating in July when Zen 2 is released - you've waited this long, it would be daft not to wait a bit longer with such a significant release on the horizon.

Also, save and buy all your parts in one go - unless you can make use of the ones you do buy straight away. It's false economy and you waste part of your warranty - and they may be DOA if you can't test.

Having said that - these are a bargain - buy whichever is within budget - but 650W is all you need. Install and use/test immediately - 10 year warranty:

Exactly my thoughts, Know it's coming out soon may as well wait.

See you in July.

But, the PSU is the one component i would buy now if you can afford it. It's a boring component - but one of the most vital. The odds of such a premium PSU being sold at such a low price come July are very slim. That Antec 650 apart from its outer case is a Seasonic Focus 650W - both normally retail at ~£95 - big savings..

Plus, you won't notice the intrusive cost of the PSU when compiling the build proper in July.

When you come back in July you'll be steered to similarly priced PSUs but nowhere near the quality of the Antec...

I'll pick up one of those PSU's when I paid. Theres some crappy 750w supply in the rig I have at the moment and been looking at getting a psu for it as i'm not to confident in the reliability of the one I have.

I'll probably just get the psu and case in the next few weeks then save up for the rest/wait for Zen 2 to be released.

Thanks for your help Plec :D

I got the 850w one and its very nice. Being fully modular is good for cable management, and not losing your sanity with wires going everywhere that you dont actually need.

It did feel a bit boring spending 80 quid on something that feels like it does nothing :) But then again 10 year warranty should see it pay for itself by not frying everything else in my case that my old one was probably considering doing. And you do get some nice cable bags :)
