Hey guys, it's been a very long time since I've been in here (damn uni and reddit!).

I'm finally getting around to a new system build; my OcUK Ultima Mobile laptop has done me well but I need a tower again, and something beasty.

Money wise I've gotta keep it under £2k including new monitor. So here goes with the spec I'm considering.

  • Asus P6TD Deluxe Intel X58 (Socket 1366) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard
  • Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66Ghz (Nehalem) (Socket LGA1366) - OEM
  • Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5970 OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
  • OCZ Z-Series 1000w Modular '80 Plus Gold' SLI Certified Power Supply
  • OCZ Gold 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 2000MHz PC3-16000C10 Low-Voltage Triple Channel (OCZ3G2000LV6GK)
  • Coolermaster Cosmos PURE Black Silent Full Tower Case - All Black
  • LG CH08LS10 8x Blu-Ray Reader/16x DVD±RW - Black (OEM)
  • Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (ST31000528AS)
  • Corsair H50-1 High-Performance CPU Watercooler (Socket LGA775/1156/1366/AM2/AM3)
  • Samsung SM2494HM 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor

I've already got a spare raptor drive I'll use for the OS, I've got G15, G5, Creative 7.1 speakers and Ive got my old dell ultrasharp 2407wfp so I can run dual monitor setup.

I want to get this beast up to 4GHz and running as silently and efficiently as possible with minimum heat. I intend to overclock the GPUs as well.

So what are people's thoughts? I'm kinda of after a swift machine that will really stand the test of time and be stable as well. I really dont want to break the 2k barrier and I'd like people's expert opinions on wheter I've made any bad decisions etc.

Please post your thoughts before I click the buy button...

Cheers guys!

On that budget you might want to consider watercooling the graphics as well, using a custom watercooling loop.

THIS might be a good starting block?

I do like the idea of watercooling the graphics but I'm not really confident or that comfortable with putting in a massive cooling rig. I loved the idea of the H50-1 since it was an all-in-one CPU water cooler so I don't have to worry about leaks and the likes.
